How to Set up Apple CarPlay in a Chevy

2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer with Apple CarPlay

If you own a new Chevy in the Amber area, it’s probably equipped with Apple CarPlay functionality. CarPlay is a popular technological feature that allows you to connect your iPhone to your Chevy’s infotainment system. Once connected, you can listen to music, make and take phone calls, send and receive texts, get directions, and even read the news! CarPlay is designed to work with all your favorite Apple-made and third-party apps. And thanks to voice commands, you can control your infotainment while keeping your eyes on the road and your hands on the wheel. The service team at John Holt Auto Group, Inc. has everything you need to know about Chevy Apple CarPlay in the guide below, so read on!

How to Connect Apple CarPlay

It’s quite easy to connect Apple CarPlay to your Chevy, once you’ve double-checked that your car comes equipped with the functionality. Just follow these simple steps:

  1. In addition to checking that your vehicle is compatible with CarPlay, make sure that the technology is available in the Chickasha area – some regions don’t support it.
  2. Start up your Chevy, and make sure Siri is turned on your iPhone.
  3. Connect your iPhone via USB cable to your Chevy, using a designated USB port.
  4. If your car supports wireless CarPlay, a newer and less common feature, then press and hold the voice-command button on your steering wheel. On your iPhone, go to Settings → General → CarPlay, tap Available Cars, then select your vehicle. Make sure your car radio is in Bluetooth or wireless mode as you do this or your phone won’t be able to find it.
  5. You’re all set! You should be directed through any remaining steps on your phone.

How to Update Apple CarPlay

Apple CarPlay is often eligible for updates to refine the technology and function even better with your iPhone. If you want to update your CarPlay software, follow these steps:

  • Go to Settings > General, and tap CarPlay.
  • Choose your Chevy car, truck, or SUV.
  • You can also add or delete apps and icons at this time. You can also drag an app icon to change the other.
